Cordova Animal Medical Center

We are very fortunate at Cordova Animal Medical Center to have dental x-ray available for our patients.   Without dental x-ray,  a veterinarian can only guess about what is going on with the teeth.  Without dental x-ray,  we cannot see abscesses (pus pockets),  see bone loss, see impacted teeth.   Cleaning the teeth without doing dental x-ray does not help our patients.   This is because dentistry in pets is not about cosmetics, it is about maintaining health and preventing pain.   Undetected infection (abscesses or periodontal disease)  will eventually cause damage to the organs, including the heart, kidneys and liver.   Undetected infection, impacted teeth, or resorptive lesions  causes real pain in our pets.   Some examples:

Every dental receives full mouth dental x-rays.

Without dental x-rays,   this abscess on 409 would go undetected
see black margin around the tooth root:  that is an abscess!
